ABOUT SARAH
I grew up in a builder's family and lived in 16 different houses before I was 21. My dad was always renovating, extending, building — and I was always redesigning the floor plans in my head. It's just what I do.
I've renovated four homes myself, owner-built a large new build, and I'm currently deep in renovating our forever family home. So when clients tell me about budget blowouts, builder delays, or decision fatigue — I get it. I've lived it.
My formal training is a Diploma of Building Design, and I'm an Associate Member of the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA). But honestly, the real education has been growing up on building sites and doing my own projects. I know how buildings go together, what works in practice versus on paper, and how to design for real family life — not aspirational magazine life.
As a mum of two (8 and 13), I understand where the school bags pile up, why you need a mudroom that actually works, and how important it is to have eyes on the backyard from the kitchen. I also understand that kids grow, families change, and homes need to adapt.
My specialty is alterations and additions that preserve character. I'm passionate about Central Coast cottages, mid-century homes, and Sydney School architecture — the homes that give this area its unique feel. Most of my work is with families who love their house but need it to function better. I don't want to knock down good homes. I want to rearrange them, add to them, and make them work brilliantly for modern life while keeping what makes them special.
I'm also a bit obsessed with interiors — colour, materials, fixtures, the whole package. Most of my projects end up being collaborative, and most of my clients become friends. I probably care too much, but I can't help it.
As a solo practitioner, you work directly with me from start to finish. No team, no handoffs, no losing things in translation. Just someone who genuinely loves this work and will be invested in making your home work for you..
